We welcome your visit to Newport State Park
As of May 23, 2020, Newport is open to hikers, bikers, birders and nature lovers! But here is what you need to know:
- All trails are open seven days a week from 6:00am to 11:00pm.
- Campsites and the park office are closed at least until June 8. This is subject to change.
- Our backpack campsites fall under the same category as any other state park that offers camping. There is primitive, remote camping offered at several other DNR-managed locations in in Wisconsin. Information is here. We are NOT a ‘primitive camping’ park.
- You must have an annual pass to visit the park. Purchase this BEFORE you come to the park. You may purchase one over the phone (1-888-305-0398) on online.
Update from Newport Wilderness Society
Regretfully, due to lingering concerns surrounding the COVID-19 health emergency, we must cancel the 2020 NWS Annual Meeting originally scheduled for July 25th. One important matter of business, the election of new members to 3-year terms on the NWS Board. Information about how to cast your ballot: Annual Meeting Cancellation; Submitting Ballot
